Lesson plans help teachers predict what might happen in their classroom, as well as structure elements of learning for their classroom. However, any plan is just a plan. As I've taught and practiced teaching, I've realized that the more I understand what the goals and concepts of the lesson are, the better it works. When I focus on the specific activities and words I want to do and say, the timing for each piece, or the exact answer I'm looking for, that's when I struggle to connect to students.
